Green Marriage
Today, I attended a National Seminar related to environmental issues in India. One of the paper presentees mentioned about "Green Marriage". Green marriage means conducting marriages in an eco-friendly way. For instance, plantain leaves played a prominent role in South- Indian weddings. People gave the grand wedding feast in a plantain leaf. Now it is replaced by plastic plates. Likewise, steel cups were used in the past which is replaced by plastic cups. Since we are facing climate change, I think we should introduce and promote "Green marriage". So we should use plantain leaves for giving wedding feast, and steel cups for drinking water. Thus instead of using plastic and artificial flower decorations, we can use original flowers to decorate the wedding place. If we have to practice this kind of marriage, I think the local governing bodies should give awareness to people, and encourage them by giving gifts.
